, that yet another year participated in masses. Over five thousand people had a great time and participated in the tastings, different activities and samples of the festival, battling against the suffocating heat by grabbing plenty of drinks and searching for a shady spot in the park where the event took place.

The star product of the festival was obviously the orange, that was shared out amongst the participants in many different ways. In the morning, from very early, many people made their way to the San Agustin park to visit the many different food exhibitors that had almonds, cheese, bread or sweets, as well as traditional ceramic of the area or flowers. The participants were presented with refreshing orange juice which was very much appreciated due to the heat.

A total of 4.000 kilos of freshly squeezed oranges were served throughout the morning whilst enjoying several musical shows carried out by Pepi Fernandez’ dance academy and the ‘Old Rondalla Orchard’. Other activities took place throughout the day like the ‘solidarity shopping’ of the flea market organised as a fundraiser or the petition with signatures to oppose to the courthouse’s abolition. The 2012 Orange Award was also given out, that this year went to the artist Carmen Escalona for promoting the traditions of the area, as she has spent years making ceramics that gather the best traditional spirit of the village’s culture. Other awards went to the desserts elaborated with oranges. This festival is declared as Touristic interest and is traditionally attended by thousands of people.

Ferrari F430 Spider

The first show room of luxury cars in Spain has opened this past Thursday in Marbella; an exhibition of exclusive cars and Formula 1 which will be open until Sunday at the Palace of Exhibitions and Conferences under the title ‘I Luxury Motor Marbella’.

It is a unique occasion where lovers of four-wheel vehicles and motorcycles can see high-end classics, sports cars and Formula 1, among which there are brands like Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Lotus, Jaguar, Mercedes or Viter.

It is not a typical auto show because its character is merely expository and not economic, as it is not an event where attend specialized companies to exchange contacts and do business.

One of these specimens is the Ferrari Formula 1 412 T2, piloted by Jean Alexi in 1995 a 3.5 liters which is the last model made with V12 or 12-cylinder with 850 horsepower of power.

Another new feature that is presented in the show is the BMW M1, the first piece of its kind to come to Spain, of 340 horsepower and a typical physiognomy.

The star of the show is a Koenigsegg CCXR Edition, a special limited edition of which there are only six cars in the world, of which this is the only model with sequential automatic gearbox F1 with acceleration from 0-100 kph in 3.2 seconds and top speed of 400 kilometers an hour. This star car is valued at a million and a half Euros.

It also presents a private collection of ten sports Ferrari, part of Magna Marbella, which includes 80 percent of the models made so far since the 70’s until 2003.

There will be also the Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza, which gives rise to the Ferrari brand and is the most legendary racing car in automotive history.

In order to make visitors experience the sensations in such a car, has been arranged a KTMX-BOX, a two-seater sports with monitor for journeys to Puerto Banus at an affordable price.

On Saturday there is a sports car caravan led by Ferrrari Association, which will tour the city centre and where everyone with a car of similar characteristics may join and participate in the exhibition.

Bike festival on April 10 in Benalmadena

2009 Bike Day White Large Giant LTD - 700c Com...

Take your bike and join the festival

The next April 10 takes place in Benalmádena the 28th edition of the Festival of the Bicycle. This year the eight-kilometre route goes through the streets of Arroyo de la Miel to the Puerto Marina. For the young participants (born between 2003 and 2007) there will be an alternative route on the circuits of the sports centre in Arroyo de la Miel with duration of 20 minutes. All kids who finish this alternative ride will be presented a free entrance to Tivoli World amusement park.

Since it is a party, there will be many prizes for best costumes, with a draw of 34 bikes, hotel stays and restaurant meals. So it is worth to join in, as it is a very funny proposition for the whole family. Registration is now open in different schools and in the two municipal sports centres; until April 6 at the schools and until 8 April at the sports centres.

While the Bike Day, which takes place also on this day in Malaga, Marbella and Fuengirola, has a more assertive character to install bike lanes in the municipalities, the Festival of the Bike in Benalmadena has, like the one in Torremolinos (on April 3rd) a predominantly playful and fun character… but the result will be more or less the same: Enjoy a bike ride with friends and family along the municipalities of the Costa del Sol.
