Malaga is the third most popular city in Spain for German travelers this summer after Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona, according to a study by Skyscanner on travel preferences for the months of June, July, August and September.

Among the top 10 are located, after Malaga, Madrid, Tenerife, Alicante, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Girona and Valencia.

German tourism is the second most important in Spain behind the United Kingdom and throughout 2011 sales will grow by 16 percent, according to forecasts by the Tourism Office of Spain. This year more than nine million German tourists will be traveling to Spain and will generate 40 million Euros in hotel stays.

Skyscanner responsible for the Spanish market, Benjamin Ulecia, said that Germans prefer Palma de Mallorca but “little by little their preferences seem to divide between big cities that offer culture, atmosphere and good food, like Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia and others close to good beaches where the weather is guaranteed, as is the case of Malaga, Ibiza, Alicante, Tenerife and Girona.”
