Mercedes Benz has chosen the city of Malaga, namely the Automotive Museum, for the international launch of its new model, the SL500. Thus, some 600 journalists from five continents will visit the city until next March 22 in order to test the lightest model from the German company.

The climate and the facilities of the Automotive Museum Malaga were good reasons for Mercedes Benz to choose the province to publicize their new creation, a car with 435 hp V8 engine that lets you go from zero to sixty in 4.6 seconds. Although it may be established only on a race track, its maximum speed reaches 250 kilometres per hour.

But most highlighted by the creators of the new Mercedes is its lightness, since it is made entirely of aluminium, thus it weights 140 kilo less than its predecessor. A new feature is also a Bluedirect engine, which allows driving 29% cheaper than other models in the range.

A specially created sound proofing system to go with the convertible and directional spouts inserted into the windshield to reach the entire surface of the glass, are some delicacies of this luxury car, which goes on sale priced from 117,000 Euros.

After the technical talk, journalists have the possibility to measure in person the benefits of the new car, driving it to Marbella, always accompanied by a technician to address concerns that arise along the way.

More Brits are interested in organized tours from Malaga

February 23, 2012 Leave a comment

Malaga overviewA study from Malagaweb.com showed that the brits are becoming more and more interested in tours from Malaga within Andalucia.

The visit of the white villages and other cities in the southern of Spain is getting adepts, and I can understand it…the beauty of those villages make it worths to visit them.

One day trips are perfect for those who like to know the most they can about their destination and surroundings. The tour bus will usually pick you up next to your accommodation, sometimes even in front of it, of course they will drop you off at the same place.

As tip: Before arriving to Malaga airport, I recommend to check prices for Malaga airport transfers and for the excursions you will like to make. It is better to plan in advance.

Top villages and places to visit in Malaga

This is my personal list, I think you should not miss any of the places below:

Ronda

Visiting Ronda is an experience you should not miss. It is common to see japanese tourists taking pictures in Ronda during the year.

Puerto Banus

Puerto Banus is in Marbella and the luxury present in Puerto Banus worths the visit. I guess you have seen luxury cars and yachts, but the number of luxury unseen vehicles in Puerto Banus is higher than anywhere else. I have seen even a Jaguar prototype not for sale in Puerto Banus…which made me wonder how much the owner paid for that car.

Benalmadena

When thinking in Benalmadena the Paloma park “Parque de la Paloma” comes to my mind, a beautiful park with animals in freedom.

Nerja

The most beautiful beaches on the Costa del Sol probably and the Caves of Nerja make of this place a must visit.

Malaga

Malaga city centre has much to offer, I can’t count all the places available to visit, but the Gibralfaro Castle is the place I would choose first. There are also many bars with the typical tapas to taste, you can perfectly spend a complete day in Malaga without getting bored.

Useful resources:

I already linked them within the text, but for those who finished the article and don’t feel like reading again…

Do you recommend any other places? Any thoughts on those I recommended?

Cruises in Marbella from the new Port Al-Thani

January 9, 2012 Leave a comment

As many know, Marbella is one of the most attractive locations of the Spanish territory, due to an infrastructure and service that make it a dream destination for many people, choosing Marbella for its shops, restaurants and nightclubs. The enviable coastline of this popular Costa del Sol municipality not only encourages water sports but also the future arrival of cruise ships.

Thus, Marbella will soon boost a spectacular cruise harbour which will be envied by the whole Mediterranean and which is carried out by a consortium between the municipality and the Sheikh of Qatar, Abdullah Ben Nasser Al-Tahani, who is showing a great affection for Malaga and the Costa del Sol.

The port, called Al-Thani, is an investment project of the Sheikh and has a large circular dock with capacity for more than a thousand berths and accommodate large cruise ships. It also will have a shopping mall, luxury hotel, sea promenade and underground parking for 450 cars.

Construction works are expected to be completed in 2015. This dream of Marbella will come true by investments of Sheikh Al-Thani, amounting to 400 million Euros.

Port Al-Thani is a project of enormous magnitude, resembling the constructions of Dubai, and which will open Marbella to tourism from the UAE and around the world. This luxury project will compete with Puerto Banus, a place that entices and enchants for its exclusivity.

Puerto Banus, Spain -- street light

When thinking about the sun flooded resorts of the Costa del Sol, at least one name will come to our minds for sure: Marbella. This exclusive resort situated among mountains and the Mediterranean Sea has been one of the major references of Spanish tourism. Because in addition to its beaches and partys, in Marbella there is a wide leisure offer.

Marbella is far more than beach tourism, hotel and pool; for example, we can take a little walk through the historic centre. Like many other cities on the Costa del Sol, Marbella has a beautiful maze of cobbled streets full of old houses, bars and restaurants.

We can walk from the historic centre to the Alameda Park, one of the quietest corners of the city and the sea promenade, especially in late afternoon. The Avenida del Mar is one of the main points of Marbella, with its collection of original sculptures by Dali, in addition to the Constitution Park, possibly the best place to breathe the calm and tranquility in this bustling city.

Both in the historical centre and the Promenade and the Avenida del Mar there are many shops to go shopping. Of course, Marbella also has art galleries, theaters and museums to get a bit more culture, along with various festivals, and concerts especially in summer.

To all this we must add the animation that you can live in the city. Bars, restaurants, pubs, discos, casinos… Marbella is fun, leisure and tourism for both those who come with their partners or are spending their holidays with friends or family. Needless to say that a day at the beach is one of the highlights and definitely has to be taken into account.

In Marbella one gets never bored: Festivals, tours, culture, shopping … who said that Marbella is just beach and pool?

About five miles west of Marbella is located Puerto Banus, one of the most famous marinas in Spain. It is not difficult to get to Puerto Banus as is clearly marked.

This marina was inaugurated in 1970 and today is a complex with a capacity for 900 yachts. Most celebrities and members of the jet set have their yachts moored here. Around the marina there are plenty of attractions for tourists, from beautiful beaches to hotels, bars, restaurants, shops… On the streets of the marina you can find plenty of exclusive shops, and it is not surprising that many come here just to see pass by the brand new Rolls Royce, Ferrari and Astons.

As you can imagine, the Puerto Banus nightlife is very active and glamorous, with many bars, pubs, restaurants and nightclubs that stay open late into the night. Both tourists and locals alike come here to enjoy the party.

Although, to enjoy fully in Puerto Banus, you will need a little extra spending money.

First show room of Luxury cars in Marbella

Ferrari F430 Spider

The first show room of luxury cars in Spain has opened this past Thursday in Marbella; an exhibition of exclusive cars and Formula 1 which will be open until Sunday at the Palace of Exhibitions and Conferences under the title ‘I Luxury Motor Marbella’.

It is a unique occasion where lovers of four-wheel vehicles and motorcycles can see high-end classics, sports cars and Formula 1, among which there are brands like Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Lotus, Jaguar, Mercedes or Viter.

It is not a typical auto show because its character is merely expository and not economic, as it is not an event where attend specialized companies to exchange contacts and do business.

One of these specimens is the Ferrari Formula 1 412 T2, piloted by Jean Alexi in 1995 a 3.5 liters which is the last model made with V12 or 12-cylinder with 850 horsepower of power.

Another new feature that is presented in the show is the BMW M1, the first piece of its kind to come to Spain, of 340 horsepower and a typical physiognomy.

The star of the show is a Koenigsegg CCXR Edition, a special limited edition of which there are only six cars in the world, of which this is the only model with sequential automatic gearbox F1 with acceleration from 0-100 kph in 3.2 seconds and top speed of 400 kilometers an hour. This star car is valued at a million and a half Euros.

It also presents a private collection of ten sports Ferrari, part of Magna Marbella, which includes 80 percent of the models made so far since the 70′s until 2003.

There will be also the Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza, which gives rise to the Ferrari brand and is the most legendary racing car in automotive history.

In order to make visitors experience the sensations in such a car, has been arranged a KTMX-BOX, a two-seater sports with monitor for journeys to Puerto Banus at an affordable price.

On Saturday there is a sports car caravan led by Ferrrari Association, which will tour the city centre and where everyone with a car of similar characteristics may join and participate in the exhibition.

Beach parties and private beach clubs in Marbella

Nikki Beach Marbella

Image by Pablo Monteagudo via Flickr

Summer is coming to Malaga and the Costa del Sol, and the beach clubs in Marbella are a main option for all those who want to have fun and without budget limits.

Nikki Beach and Ocean Club are just two of the many clubs along the Costa del Sol where people decide to go for celebrating vacations with drink, music and fun.

All of the people coming to the Costa del Sol searching for exclusive beach clubs in Marbella and Puerto Banus, should look for transport in Malaga. Marbella is not close to  Malaga airport, so car hire in Malaga is the option I personally recommend when coming to the South of Spain; there are many places to visit and just one of them are the beach clubs for those who are interested in having fun without worrying about their budget.

Marbella, the pearl of the Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol

Marbella is a city on the Costa del Sol in the province of Malaga. The location is popular with the rich and famous, but also with tourists who like to spend a little extra for their vacation. Marbella and the marina of Puerto Banus are major attractions for visitors to the Costa del Sol. Marbella is also an absolute paradise for golf lovers. A dozen magnificent courses allow the exercise of this sport with a unique background: sea and mountains.

The nearest airport is Malaga airport, about 50 km from Marbella. You can easily reach the luxurious city with a shuttle bus; the journey takes about 40 minutes. Along the Costa del Sol runs the highway the A7, also called Autovia del Mediterráneo and we thus reach the city quickly and easily with a Malaga airport car hire.

However, Marbella has a down-side to offer, a certain andalusian charm, which is best seen by strolling through the streets in the old part of town.

One of the most beautiful places is the charming “Plaza de los Naranjos” (Orange square), which is located right on the main street in the historic city centre; There you can find the 16th century town hall, magnificent buildings, small shops, galleries, bars and bistros. The Plaza is at the same time the centre for activities by day and night.

Or do you prefer a walk along the sea promenade of Avenida del Mar? This is probably one of the most beautiful promenades on the Costa del Sol, characterized by classy restaurants and bars.

Be aware that this is a charming place; after you have been there, you will probably start thinking about moving there..

But first you should start looking for flights to Malaga, Costa del Sol Hotels and to compare car hire Malaga. With our links you can find quickly and easily interesting offers!
