Alhambra overview

Malagaweb website has updated the Granada section and added useful information about Alhambra Palace.

If you are planning a visit to the south of Spain, a visit to this monument is more than recommended, and you may also want to visit Granada city during your day trip.

The Alhambra is a walled city (medina). Alhambra could operate with autonomy from the city. In the Alhambra were all the necessary facilities for the people living there: the palace, mosques, schools, workshops, etc..

Weather forecast for this weekend in Malaga

Rain, Rainy weather

The weather forecast for this weekend in Malaga says that tomorrow it will rain, so if you were thinking about getting to the beach or enjoying the characteristic good weather of the Costa del Sol, you may have to make some changes to your plans.

My personal recommendation for this weekend is to enjoy film in English (available at Plaza Mayor) or to drink a cup of tea in one of the many coffee shops on the promenade during the afternoon (I love watching rain while drinking tea in a covered terrace).

Malaga does not only mean “Beaches“, but many other things. If you can drive, get to discover the different white villages in the province or drive to Granada to enjoy the famous “Tapas” from the city.

Rain does not mean to stay at home, which you can do if you like, but to enjoy a different side of Malaga and the Costa del Sol,  which not many tourists who come during the summer use to know.

Sierra Nevada: how to skip the queue to buy your ski pass

December 28, 2010 Leave a comment

Visiting Sierra Nevada during the ski season is a fabulous experience, but the problem is that many others have the same idea as you and there are specific days when the queues to buy the ski pass at the ticket office can break your patience. Here comes a hint about how to skip the queues.

Many hotel establishments in the province of Granada are now allowed to sell ski passes of Sierra Nevada to their guests, through a software program and tickets for the lifts. This new system is already operational in twenty establishments, mostly in Sierra Nevada (Ski hotels and schools), and in tourist information centres like the Tourism Board of Granada.

Get to know the night skiing in Sierra Nevada. In winter season, fans of winter sports can take full advantage to enjoy the slopes of the southernmost ski resort in Europe.

One of the options available is night skiing in Sierra Nevada.

Sierra Nevada is the pioneer among the Spanish ski resorts with the availability of night skiing since more than a decade. Here you can enjoy a unique experience, sliding down the slope El Rio (The River) in the light of the moon and seeing the stars and further down the lights of the city of Granada.

Night skiing in Sierra Nevada can be practiced during certain days of the season, generally on Saturdays from 7 pm to 9:30 pm and purchasing a special ski pass.

Due to the heavy snowfall during the last days in Europe’s southernmost ski resort are now available areas which before were still closed to the public, such as the long awaited opening of the recently expanded snow park for enthusiasts of snowboard and freestyle.

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada in Granada thus is ready to offer a very enjoyable skiing experience just in time for these Christmas holidays, with a nice thick layer of new snow which right now is getting compressed to offer a compact surface for skiing.

During the Christmas holidays are planned many related activities on the slopes and in the resort Solynieve itself; children up to 12 years can ski for half price on the December 25th and January 1st and 6th, meanwhile children up to 5 years can ski for free during all season. A special feature is as well the availability of night skiing in Sierra Nevada on Saturday nights from 7 to 9:30 pm.
